The second Steering Group Meeting of the BePacMan project took place in Rostock, Germany, from 25 to 27 June 2025. The meeting was hosted by the environmental technology network enviMV and brought together project partners and invited stakeholders from across the South Baltic region.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review project progress and coordinate the next stages of the initiative focused on developing circular solutions for paper packaging systems.
Project progress and coordination
During the Steering Group Meeting, partners reviewed the progress of activities across the main areas of the project and discussed the next steps related to research, stakeholder engagement and the development of circular packaging solutions.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between project partners and aligning activities aimed at supporting businesses and stakeholders in adopting more sustainable packaging practices.
Study visits and industry insights
The programme also included several study visits and presentations from industry representatives working on circular packaging solutions.
Participants visited Smurfit Westrock Wellpappenwerk Waren GmbH, where they learned about industrial corrugated cardboard production and the challenges related to sustainable packaging supply chains.
Another visit took place at Yamaton Paper GmbH in Rostock, providing further insights into paper processing and packaging production systems.
In addition, the programme featured presentations from companies and experts working on packaging reuse systems and waste management, including examples of reusable packaging infrastructure and logistics solutions.
Knowledge exchange across the South Baltic region
The meeting concluded with a conference session and discussions on the challenges and opportunities related to circular paper packaging systems in the region.
The event provided valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange between project partners, industry representatives and experts, supporting the development of practical solutions that can contribute to more sustainable packaging systems.
