As part of the BePacMan project, partners and stakeholders participated in a study visit to EkoFabryka Wejherowo – one of the most innovative municipal waste management and circular economy facilities in the region.
The visit provided participants with an opportunity to explore how circular economy principles can be implemented at a local level through integrated waste prevention, reuse, recycling and environmental education activities.
EkoFabryka was established as a model municipal waste management system supporting the collection, sorting, recycling and preparation for reuse of various waste streams. The facility combines operational waste management functions with educational activities aimed at increasing public awareness of waste prevention and resource efficiency.
During the visit, participants learned about:
• selective waste collection and sorting systems,
• preparation of products and materials for reuse,
• recycling and upcycling activities,
• environmental education programmes,
• practical approaches supporting circular economy objectives.
The study visit served as an inspiration for discussions on extending the lifecycle of paper packaging and identifying opportunities for reuse, material recovery and stakeholder engagement within circular business models.
The visit was organised within the BePacMan (Better Paper Packaging Management) project co-funded by the Interreg South Baltic Programme.
