The first Steering Group Meeting of the BePacMan – Better Paper Packaging Management project took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, hosted by the Environmental Cluster Denmark (CLEAN). The meeting brought together representatives of the project consortium to discuss the initial progress of the project and coordinate upcoming activities.
During the meeting, partners reviewed the progress of the project’s main work areas and discussed the next steps in the development of circular approaches to paper packaging management in the South Baltic region. Discussions covered project management and reporting, communication activities as well as the development of analytical and implementation tasks carried out within the project.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for partners to exchange perspectives on the current situation of paper packaging systems in their respective countries and identify key challenges related to the transition from linear to circular packaging models.
Study visit and stakeholder exchange
The programme included a presentation by the Danish company RE-ZIP, which introduced its reusable packaging system designed to reduce environmental impact by extending the lifecycle of packaging materials. The system enables customers to return packaging through convenient collection points, allowing it to be reused multiple times.
Participants also visited KLS PurePrint A/S, one of Denmark’s leading environmentally focused printing companies. During the visit, partners learned about sustainable printing practices, including the use of renewable energy, electric logistics and Cradle-to-Cradle certified production processes. Strengthening international cooperation
The meeting in Copenhagen marked an important milestone for the project, establishing the foundation for cooperation between partners from Poland, Germany, Lithuania and Denmark.
Regular meetings of the Steering Group play a key role in coordinating project activities and supporting the development of solutions aimed at improving circular management of paper packaging in the South Baltic region.
