BePacMan Partners Launch Design Sprint Process During Project Meeting in Lund

Partners of the BePacMan – Better Paper Packaging Management project

Partners of the BePacMan – Better Paper Packaging Management project met in Lund, Sweden, from 8–11 June 2026 to advance collaborative work on circular solutions for paper packaging across the South Baltic region.

The meeting combined project coordination activities, technical workshops, and a study visit to Tetra Pak’s global headquarters. A key achievement was the launch of the project’s first Design Sprint, a structured innovation process designed to bridge the gap between circular economy ambitions and practical business implementation.

Tackling Real-World Packaging Challenges

The Design Sprint focused on analysing packaging-related challenges faced by three companies representing different markets and use cases:

  • Organic Polska (Poland)
  • Zerozon (Lithuania)
  • Östersken (Sweden)

Partners worked together to map packaging journeys, identify barriers to reuse, and define success criteria for future circular packaging solutions. The workshop established a foundation for the next stages of the sprint process, during which concepts will be refined, tested, and translated into practical implementation plans.

Learning from Industry Leaders

On 10 June, project partners visited Tetra Pak Headquarters in Lund, where they explored developments in fibre-based packaging technologies, circular material flows, and large-scale recycling systems. Discussions also covered how global companies are adapting to emerging sustainability requirements and EU policy frameworks.

The visit provided valuable insights that will help shape the project’s future activities and support the development of practical recommendations for businesses and policymakers.

Looking Ahead

The Lund meeting was the first in a series of Design Sprint workshops planned within the project. In the coming months, partners will continue working with participating companies to collect additional operational data, further develop proposed solutions, and prepare for the next stages of testing and validation.

By bringing together businesses, researchers, innovation organisations, and public stakeholders, BePacMan aims to support the transition towards more sustainable, reusable, and resource-efficient paper packaging systems throughout the South Baltic region.
